Why EdTour – Africa?
Africa continues to be one of the fastest-growing education regions, with young, globally minded students actively exploring international higher education opportunities.
Kenya has a literacy rate of approximately 82%, Mozambique’s overall literacy rate is around 60% with youth literacy (ages 15–24) close to 70%, Botswana’s literacy rate stands at approximately 88%, and South Africa around 87%, reflecting varied but significant regional investment in education
Youth under the age of 25 make up over 60% of the population across Sub-Saharan Africa, and by 2030 young Africans are expected to comprise 42% of the global youth population.
According to Open Doors 2023/24, the total number of students studying in the U.S. from:
• Kenya: 3,232
• Botswana: 273 (approximately a 6.6% increase from the prior year)
• South Africa: 1,719
• Mozambique: 175 (a 19% increase from the prior year)

Note: Hotel and Visa fees are not included in the tour cost. EdPrograms will facilitate participants with negotiated corporate rates for hotels. Any documentation needed for visas will be provided. We prefer to stay in Marriott properties (where available).
Eligibility Requirements
- Open to accredited higher education institutions only
- Institutions must be two-year, four-year, or graduate degree-granting
- Participants must be full-time admissions professionals of the represented institution
- Alumni and recruitment agents cannot represent institutions on our tours
- Universities will be reviewed by the advisory board if capacity exceeds limits
- All participating institutions must adhere to NAFSA’s Statement of Ethical Principles
